This past weekend, Amy Adams won a Golden Globe award for best performance for her role in American Hustle. In her acceptance speech, she noted that this same day also happened to be the 15th anniversary of her move to Los Angeles.
Amy was a ‘military brat’ who was born in Italy but spent the greater part of her childhood in Castle Rock, Colorado and Atlanta. She worked as a Gap greeter and a Hooter hostess before jetting off to L.A. in 1999. Amy has described her first year in Los Angeles as “dark and bleak.” But, it’s a good thing that she didn’t let that deter her. Check out her acceptance speech below. (The good stuff starts around 2:30.)
