“It Never Rains In Southern California”

In celebration of Socal's recent rainfall, have a listen to "It Never Rains in Southern California" and tell us which version you like best.

“It Never Rains In Southern California” is a popular song/sentiment/TRUTH… well, maybe not NEVER. When it finally rains in L.A., the nation takes a pause and so do Angelenos. L.A. rain brings out the whiners, the bad drivers and the mud slides. You will often see the Twitter posts of people who complain about the rain, on the only day that it rains that year. Luckily, this time around, people were actually glad to see it. I know that I was. Los Angeles weather can be (literally) perfect every day and, though this may sound like a fantastic problem to have, it’s actually pretty harsh on California’s agriculture industry and our health. The past few days of rainfall have been a welcomed relief and forecasters predict that there is more rain on the way.

To celebrate L.A.’s recent rainfall, I’ve been playing “It Never Rains In Southern California” on repeat. There are actually two versions of the popular song, and oddly neither one of them is about the weather. I’ve posted both versions below. Have a listen and tell meĀ WHO SANG IT BEST?

Albert Hammond, 1972
